CAFS Acting Director, Prof. Eliwo Akoto, was received in audience by the Togolese Prime Minister and Head of Government, Mr. Fossoun Gilbert Houngbo, on 24 February 2011.
They discussed the current efforts by the CAFS Management to revitalize the CAFS/CEFA Lome Regional Office for Western and Central Africa. The CAFS delegation sought the support of the Togo Government in this process. The goal is that the Lome Office should once again become one of the leading institutions in the region in CB in the areas of HIV&AIDS, Sexual and Reproductive Health, and Family Planning. Prof. Akoto also briefed the Premier on the on-going reforms within CAFS, which will see the Lomé Regional office strengthened and revitalized.
The meeting, which was held at the Prime Minister's offices, was part of a series of meetings with stakeholders and senior government and UN officials, that Prof. Akoto had during his one week visit to the Lome Regional Office. Prof. Akoto had travelled to Togo with the CAFS Finance and Support Services Manager, Mr. Kiplagat Chebii.
